JOY BOY - a tribute to Julius Eastman is a filmic concert of Julius Eastman’s music in DeSingel in Antwerp, BE.
Collectif Faire-part is working on 4 videos that will be projected during the live performance of 4 musical pieces. After the concert, the projected videos will be reworked to 4 shortfilms, that can be shown together or seperately.

Rob Jacobs is directing the video that will accompany the piece Many, many woman. The title of the piece refers to the book of Gertrude Stein of which a passage is sung by a choir. The word “one” appears over 3000 times in Stein’s short book. The text orbits around the idea of oneness of all beings, drawing the reader closer and closer through rhythm and repetition.

The video accompanying the musical piece is an intuitive research into how the micro reflects the macro: How every cell is a planet in itself, how our planet is no more than a cell in the larger body of the universe. Microscopic videos are combined with curved lines of text and small drawings, resulting in star maps of the microcosm. These videos resonate with images of natural elements that are visible with the naked eye
